Travel Information for DayTrips

All EduTrips and DayTrips meet at the base of the Mount Washington Auto Road in Pinham Notch, New Hampshire at 8:30 AM on the morning of the trip. Directions to the Auto Road are below. Please print the directions and bring them with you, as there is no local street address to put into a GPS device.

Our specific rendezvous point will be in the northwest parking lot of the Mount Washington Auto Road complex. This parking lot is located on the west side (the Mount Washington side) of Route 16, immediately north of the main, summertime entrance to the Mount Washington Auto Road (which, in winter, is typically marked as the "SnowCoach" entrance). The northwest lot, where we will meet, may be designated as employee parking only, but rest assured that you are allowed to use it.

Note: Please park together with other cars to facilitate plowing if it snows during your trip. Likewise, although the lot is plowed, it is wise to bring sand and a shovel just in case.

Once we are assembled we will do introductions, load our gear into the Observatory truck for transport to the snow tractor garage, walk over to the snow tractor garage, perform a brief safety orientation, then load up the tractor and head up the mountain.
