Hawks and Geese

I went out this past Sunday to see what I could shoot and here are some of my shots.

A few geese near my house.

Here I found a field with a bunch of bird houses all over the place and I noticed something in a tree. It was a Hawk. This Hawk was about 500 feet away and I had my 100-400mm @ 400mm. Oh how I wish i had a 600 or 800mm.I really had to crop these in.

This is the field I shot across and if you look in the center 1/2 way up the tree you should see the Hawk.

Then on the way home I seen this one on a electric wire looking at something on the ground so I pulled a U-turn to shoot it.

I spooked it so it flew to a pole a few sections down so of course I followed.

I do have plans on getting back to the field with all the bird houses. It is near a resivoir so I am hoping it will have more Hawks and maybe some Eagles.

Here are sme shots I got at the field I found last weekend. I can't wait to get there this spring because there is all kinds of birds here. Blue Jays,Cardinals and some little yellow birds(?) etc. I was haveing a great time shooting but the all of a sudden my camera said I had to format my card. This did happen once before when I was shooting in the cold. It was 14 degrees this morning. If I held the card in my hands for a while I would be able to shoot a bit more. If there is anybody else that shoots in the cold. Do you have this problem? Help!!

nice Chris i love stopping when i see a hawk sitting in a tree looking for some thing to move in a field then swoop down a get it
and i am part Hawk because my last name is Hawkins :eek:

And Ill bet you if it's 14 degrees outside and you see Charlie sitting in a tree he'll still be in a pair of shorts and not trousers.:D
