| | High pressure will slide offshore this morning as a weak Clipper and associated cold front drop southeast across the state. This will translate into the day starting with a mix of sunshine and clouds before increasingly cloudy skies leave mostly cloudy conditions by the afternoon. As the front passes this afternoon and evening, a few light snow showers will be possible, mostly in the mountains of the north, leaving a light dusting to a few tenths of an inch of snow before things wind down by Saturday morning. A building ridge on Saturday will allow for skies to gradually trend towards clearing for the afternoon hours for most of the state. Despite some expected sunshine later on Saturday, a cold and stiff northwesterly flow will keep things seasonable.
The ridge of surface high pressure is expected to hold over the region into Sunday but a passing upper level trough will bring clouds and a slight chance of mountain snow showers during the overnight hours on Saturday into Sunday. Heading into Monday, another weak northern trough will sag south along with another weak cold front. This will once again increase clouds around the state and will continue the chance for mountain snow through Tuesday. So, the generally thing to take away from this forecast period is it will be generally cold with periodic chance of snow but no significant storms are expected. |
