New Webcam, New Membership Benefits in 2007

As the calendar changes to 2007, Mount Washington Observatory is making some changes to its website, rates and membership benefits.

NEW "PRESIDENTIALS" WEBCAM: Starting just after the first of the year, we kick off the Bretton Woods Challenge, a special online membership drive. Once we hit the 250 new member mark, we'll "flip the switch" on our newest webcam! The new "Presidentials Cam"  is located in the Top o' Quad Restaurant at Bretton Woods Mountain Resort and will offer up spectacular views of the western flank of the Presidential Range. Viewers of this new webcam will be able to see the Mount Washington Resort at Bretton Woods in the foreground, along with the Cog Railway, the Mount Washington Golf Course and one of the most photographed views in the state-- the stunning peaks of the Presidential Range. The new webcam is currently under testing and will be ready to go once we hit the 250 new member milestone.

PREMIUM WEB CONTENT: Another exciting change to our website is the addition of Premium Content, exclusively available to members of the Mount Washington Observatory. MWO members will soon have access to more than a dozen new views from our webcams, amazing time-lapse movies of each day's sunrise and sunset, panoramic images of the mountain and a weekly video update straight from the summit of Mount Washington. Once our new Premium Content launches in mid-January, MWO members will need to sign up for a MWO Web Account and link it to their membership. Full instructions will be available when the new program launches and our membership and web development team will be ready to answer questions should they arise. We're excited and we hope you are, too!

ADVENTURE TRAVEL PACKAGES: New for 2007, all MWO members will have access to unique Adventure Travel packages, offered in collaboration with Arctic Odysseys. The first travel package, an August tour of Newfoundland and Labrador's Wild Coast by private yacht, is now booking. To learn more, call the MWO membership office at (603) 356-2137, ext. 206. Look for complete information to appear in the News & Events section of the website in the coming days. "Club Level" Observatory members have the first opportunity to participate in the Newfoundland and Labrador trip. After January 31, 2007, all MWO members will have access.

NEW DIRECTOR'S CIRCLE: Also in 2007, MWO members at the 6,288 Club and President Club Levels are invited to be part of our new Director's Circle. This new advisory panel will meet twice each year with Observatory staff to learn about current and future projects, to offer ideas and feedback and to meet fellow Observatory supporters in an informal setting. More details and a meeting schedule will be announced in the coming months.

DUES INCREASE: As of January 1, for the first time in seven years, dues for two of our membership levels will increase. Specifically, the Individual and Family/Dual membership levels will each increase by $5. The new rates are $45 for Individual members and $70 for Family/Dual members. The changes will bring in an estimated $10,000 in membership revenue each year, helping to offset the increasing cost of operating our summit facility.

Stay tuned to MountWashington.org to learn more about each of these new programs, and we thank you for your continued support.
