SUMMARY:Powering Up with Mount Washington Observatory (Educator Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Mount Washington Observatory’s education team is proud to partner with Vermont and New Hampshire Energy Education Program (VEEP/NHEEP) on July 8th for a full-day of action-based learning. This hands-on professional learning workshop\, rooted in VEEP/NHEEP’s experiential approach\, will demonstrate how energy education can empower student agency for real-world impact. We’ll explore interdisciplinary best practices and systems thinking to integrate authentic\, youth-led problem-solving into your curriculum. The session will feature examples on how educators can facilitate\, rather than direct\, student initiatives. Attendees will experience learning from a student perspective\, seeing first hand how learning unfolds. In these trainings\, participants will engage with a climate and energy focused anchoring phenomenon and teaching routines to experience the shift from “learning about\,” to a more student-driven “figuring out”. We’ll provide guidance on how you can utilize these tools in your classroom. DESCRIPTION:2026 is an exciting year for the Mt. Washington Auto Road. In addition to the milestone of celebrating 120 years of being family-owned and operated\, the return of a crowd-favorite signature event–Climb to the Clouds–newly dubbed “The Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds Hillclimb” is slated for August 7–9\, 2026. This a car race from the base of the Mt. Washington Auto Road to the summit. Tickets will be available in early 2026.
