The ‘Sub’ Door
This morning was very spring like with deep blue skies above, a scattering of clouds below, calm winds and a warm sun shining down on what little snow we have left. The snow pack really took a hit last Thursday when we saw rain and very mild temperatures up here. With more warm weather in the forecast and the possibility of yet more melting, and hence the chance for water to enter the building, I decided to make the most of the good weather and get outdoors with the shovel (it’s also a really good way of working up an appetite for the great food our volunteers, Pat and Lou, are making for us this week).
After a couple of hours of digging I managed to clear the lounge window and the ‘sub’ door. At this point in the season the ‘sub’ door is usually completely buried by several feet of snow and totally inaccessible. Typically it will take the intern several days to dig out in late April but this year even I managed to clear the three or four feet of ice and snow in just over a hour. Knowing my luck we’ll get ten feet of snow next week.
