Enjoying the weather room
Eight days on the Summit for a first time volunteer have just flown by… so many new and exciting experiences to share, starting with 70MPH winds gusting as we were greeted at the Summit by the downgoing crew who helped unload our gear. Next we met with the previous volunteers who gave an update on the pantry, then on to the weekly crew meeting! The Observatory windows were covered in ice, but by the afternoon we were treated to the big view and we got outside to take photos of the rime ice! We spent lots of time in the Observatory, got to go out several times to the tower getting a birds eye view of what these enthusiastic Observers and Interns do on a daily basis. We also spent time with Deb in the Museum and gift shop, taking in the history of this area. Preparing and sharing of the evening meal was the highlite of each day!Mike has renamed the dish of Chicken Divan, to ‘Chicken Sofa’! So as we bid adieu to Kyle, Stacey, Mike, Lisa, Jeff and Deb and Crew Chief of the living quarters, Marty, we say, thank you for giving us the opportunity to share this unique and very special place! Become a volunteer, it’s contagious!
