Beautiful day in the neighborhood

Everyone awake, bright and early
A smile has been on my face since I woke up this morning. I could not ask for a better day. There are three very helpful, excited, early-rising interns on the summit this week, a third observer has been added to this shift (after two very grueling weeks of only two observers), and the weather is just amazing. Visibility is up to 120 miles; the ocean was clearly visible this morning, as was Sebago Lake, and mountains in Canada. Winds are as calm as a sleeping lamb, and hikers are plentiful on the summit. As I sit and write this comment (with a smile) the three interns and our volunteer are out on a hike on the Alpine Garden Trail, learning the beautiful face of the weather of Mount Washington.
What’s the reason for my constant smile? It could have something to do with the breath taking sunrise that the entire crew got to share together this morning. It could also be the weather. It could also be because Jennifer Allen (our volunteer for the week) cooked an amazing breakfast including crepes, bananas, strawberries, a “blow your mind” sauce, and bacon. Well, it’s just about that time of day again, the time of day that occurs twenty four times a day…Ob Time!
But first, sunrise was so nice that even our night observer stayed awake!
