A Delicious Week On The Summit!

Dotty and Ron

A shift week for us always begins in the employee parking lot at the base of the Auto Road, at 8:30 AM. Everyone crams their luggage into the back of the van and piles in for the half hour ride up! Hugs and hellos are exchanged and as we chat about what we did on our off weeks. This week’s meeting at the Auto Road was especially high spirited and led me to believe that a very good week was to follow!

This feeling did not only come from the hugs, stories and laughs shared, but from the boxes of extra goodies that this week’s volunteers, Dotty and Ron, brought with them! Dotty said that she looked forward to cooking for us, and brought with her scallops from Connecticut, home made spaghetti sauce and pasta, fresh blueberries and peaches and homemade marmalade! Last night’s dinner was as good as or better than eating out at a fine restaurant! Dotty and Ron began cooking in the early afternoon to have dinner ready for us at seven. We had scallops wrapped in bacon, mashed potatoes, zucchini puffs, salad and barbeque chicken! Dessert was a peach and blueberry pie!

We have made plans to have a picnic on the observation deck on the next clear and dry night! Let’s hope that comes sooner rather than later!
