A “Summitized” Christmas Carol

2015-12-25 05:49:47.000 – Ryan Knapp, Weather Observer/Staff Meteorologist

Over the years I have done “summitized” parodies of Christmas stories/songs and this year is no exception. In the past, I did a parody on the poem/song “The 12 Days of Christmas” titled “The 12 Days of Summit Christmas.” Another one was “Twas the Night Before Christmas” with an obs spin on how the story goes. This year, I am putting a twist on the song “Deck the Halls” which I am titling “Deck and Obs”. So as your reading it, put it to the tune of “Deck the Halls” to get the full effect. I hope y’all like it. And our crew would like to wish you all a: MERRY CHRISTMAS and JOYFUL HOLIDAYS!

Deck and Obs

Heading out once every hour
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
Climbing to de-ice our tower
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

How the weather we do measure
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
Weather reports are our pleasure
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

Fast away the night shift passes
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
Hail the day shift lads and lasses
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

Enjoying our shift, all together
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
Regardless of wind or weather.
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

Deck the cairn with Christmas lighting
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
Strong winds blow and we are leaning
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

Don we now our hats and goggles
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
Wishing for snow for our shovels
Fa la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.
