Dear Member,
This time of year is often full of festive celebrations and anticipation of winter weather. The summit of Mount Washington is no different, except that snow and ice have already been on the summit for months.
As a nonprofit, December at the Observatory also means it is a crucial time to raise funds. Our Year-End Campaign kicked off in November, and thanks to your incredible support, we headed into the month on a positive note.
Your donations exceeded our match goal of $25,000 from our Board of Trustees last month, and we are well on our way to our total goal of $240,000 before January 1st.
Thanks to you, we have already raised over $105,000 toward our goal! These generous funds not only pay for logistics like getting our summit crew up and down the mountain each week, but also for snowcat maintenance needed between seasons.
Your support not only funds staff work on creating educational experiences, but also helps keep programs like Science in the Mountains and our Virtual Classroom free for all to enjoy.
You not only keep our daily Higher Summits Forecast available to those looking for safe recreation in the White Mountains, but also help launch careers for meteorologists like Sarah Long (see story below).
Thank you to everyone for your amazing support! If you haven’t yet, you can join our amazing community of members with a gift today.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Fitzgerald
