Sharing the science and wonder of Mount Washington, The Home of the World’s Worst Weather. 

Storm Scholars: Homeschool Educational Series (Ages 6-11 and 12-15) 

Join the educators at the Mount Washington Observatory Valley Headquarters (North Conway, NH) for monthly learning opportunities for homeschool students! Summit Scholars will offer immersive and collaborative classroom-like experiences, covering a wide range of topics. Summit Scholars will equip both students and their home educators with the resources to deepen understanding in weather and climate sciences, geology, and biology. 

Ages 6-11 second Fridays of the month; Ages 12-15 third Fridays of the month, January-June 2026; 9:00- 10:30 AM*

  • January 9/16, 2026: Home of the World’s Worst Weather
  • February 13/20, 2026: Snowflakes and Frozen Precipitation
  • March 13/20, 2026: Avalanches and Extreme Weather Events
  • April 10/17, 2026: Global Precipitation and Earth’s Climate
  • May 8/15, 2026: Biology of Mount Washington
  • June 12/18, 2026: Geology of Mount Washington (Field Trip, start time TBA)

*June field trip dates and times may not be on a Friday and have a different start time and location.

Storm Scholars is open to homeschool students ages 6-11 and 12-15.

Mount Washington Observatory’s Valley Headquarters at 2779 White Mountain Highway in North Conway Village, with day trips to Mount Washington and beyond. 

$275/student/SEMESTER (January-June) OR $65/student/SESSION 

One home educator (parent/guardian) per student is strongly encouraged to participate (no additional cost).
