You’re invited to help us celebrate the Observatory’s Founding Day on Thursday, October 15 at 7:00 PM as Dr. Peter Crane, MWOBS Curator, presents “They Led the Way: 19th Century Weather Observers on Mount Washington.” Decades before today’s Observatory was founded, brave scientists occupied the summit to document and learn about the true severity of the mountain’s weather. These were members of the private Huntington-Hitchcock Expedition of 1870-1871, and the soldiers of the U.S. Army Signal Service who followed them.
