Mount Washington Observatory Renews Partnership with Eastern Mountain Sports as Official Exclusive Outfitter

 

NORTH CONWAY, NH and MERIDEN, CT(For Immediate Release)—Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS), a business unit of UK outdoor company, Mountain Warehouse, and a trusted source for outdoor adventurers of all abilities, and Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS), a private, non-profit scientific and educational institution, proudly announce that they are continuing their 15-year partnership, wherein EMS is the exclusive extreme weather outfitter for MWOBS.

“For more than a decade, our staff have trusted EMS to outfit them for some of the worst weather seen anywhere in the world,” Drew Bush, MWOBS Executive Director, said. “We’re proud to continue this partnership as EMS relaunches its brand, new lines of high-quality gear, and its work throughout New England. Through this partnership, EMS will provide financial support to the organization through direct company donations and collaborating on co-promotional initiatives to highlight the important work MWOBS is doing at the summit of Mount Washington. The agreement also includes support for key events, such as Seek the Peak, an annual hike-a-thon each July that benefits MWOBS’s educational and scientific programs. Additionally, MWOBS staff, equipped with EMS gear, will offer valuable product feedback to the EMS design team, contributing to the development of even higher-performing outerwear for Northeast
adventurers.

“At EMS, we know that the ability to explore the outdoors is a huge part of so many people’s lives, and the work that MWOBS is undertaking helps outdoor enthusiasts do just that,” says Kerry Muricchio, EMS VP of Merchandising. “The conservation efforts they support through research, combined with our passion for promoting outdoor recreation and expertise in outfitting individuals for the elements, combine to increase outdoor access in the Northeast, and the country.”

In addition to outfitting MWOBS staff with the necessary outdoor gear and apparel for withstanding Mount Washington’s extreme weather, EMS has raised over a half-million dollars in funds to support MWOBS since the partnership was formed in 2011.

In the fall of 2024, EMS was acquired by the UK-based outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse.
