This evening you can enjoy a great local talk by our own Jeff Derosa. Jeff is very knowledgeable about all aspects of Mount Washington, having worked atop the summit for several years. Currently Outreach Coordinator at MWOBS, his duties include leading the popular overnight summit Winter EduTrips. He has also experienced weather in Antarctica almost as severe as the summit of Mount Washington – spending nearly two years conducting surface and upper atmospheric observations at the South Pole where he endured a low temperature of -108 degF (Wind Chill = -160 degF). Tonight at 7 p.m., family and friends of Maine’s beautiful Lake Region are invited to learn about the patterns, changes, and extremes of the weather on top of Mount Washington. Jeff DeRosa, the Outreach Coordinator at Mount Washington Observatory will begin presenting the wonders of the mountain at the Lakes Environmental Association office located at 230 Main St. in Bridgton. November is the best time to learn about the work being conducted on top of the “rock pile” as well as seasonal changes occurring in the alpine zones of northern New England.
