Alpine Flowers
As promised last night, here are a few more flower pictures from our hike the other day. Waking up this morning revealed another cool photo opportunity – a cap cloud. This particular cap cloud persisted for several hours, but as I write this, we are beginning to go into the fog, back to our normal view of grey. And now back to last night’s comment…
That long awaited window is finally here – the time when alpine flowers are in bloom. Yesterday I got out for a hike with Steve and Jacki down to the Alpine Gardens to spy on the wee plant people that are now coming up. Walking down the wind was enough to keep us happy, but as we descended down to the flats, the wind died and the black flies swarmed. We dealt with them for a while, hiking over to the edge of Huntington Ravine and peering down into it. Soon however, the beauty of the flowers was overpowered by the ever persistent bugs and we decided to hike back to the lovely wind.
