What a weekend! Now that schools are out for the summer, it seems like every day the Sherman Adams building is packed to the brim with hikers and day visitors. The amount of tours has been increasing, as well as the number of people going through the Mount Washington Museum. On Friday alone, when the weather was nice, the Museum saw over 700 guests. Along with an influx of people, special summer events have started taking place. Last night was the Minis on Top Auto Road event, where the Observatory stayed open late so Mini Cooper owners could drive their cars to the summit and watch the sunset.
Immediately following the late night, the Sherman Adams building opened extra early this morning so people taking the 3:30 AM Sunrise Drive on the Auto Road could watch the sun come up. Both of these events would have been a great experience for visitors, if dense fog wouldn’t have been blocking out both the sunrise and sunset on the summit. Luckily, the Auto Road is always having special events and there will be two more Sunrise Drives this summer, one on July 25 and the other on August 29. If you come, stop in the Museum and ask about how you can get a tour of the Weather Observatory!
