We can see the Northern Presidentials!
Hello. My name is Ross Fessenden and I am a Plymouth State junior majoring in meteorology and interning here at the summit of Mount Washington. So far it has been an incredible experience. I arrived on Wednesday and quickly familiarized myself with the surroundings. That afternoon and evening I had the opportunity to go out and de-ice and take hourly observations with Jordan while withstanding winds around 80 mph. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced in my life.
In the few days I have been here on the summit I have gotten a sampling of the many things the mountain and observatory have to offer. I have been conducting research while also shoveling, helping de-ice and taking observations. As Jordan mentioned in an earlier comment we managed to get out yesterday on a hike over near Mount Clay. Of the times I have visited and stayed on Mount Washington this was the first time I was on the mountain for a clear day and it was impressive. The views were amazing and getting out for some fresh air was fantastic.
I have also enjoyed spending time with our volunteers Charlie and Jeanine, the staff Mike, Stacey, Steve and Jordan, and the visiting hikers and edu-trips. It truly has been one of the greatest experiences of my life and from what it seems my remaining time on the mountain may prove to be even more eventful than my time thus far.
