Minus33 Partners with Mount Washington Observatory to Support
Critical Weather and Climate Research
North Conway, NH – Mount Washington Observatory is proud to announce its partnership with Minus33, a New Hampshire based wool brand specializing in versatile wool products. For every MWOBS sock sold on Minus33.com, 33% of the proceeds will be donated to support the Mount Washington Observatory, including the partnership’s hallmark product, the lightweight Summit Sock, as well as the recently released micro cushion Nimbus Sock.
In addition to supporting crucial weather and climate research on Mount Washington through their product proceed program, Minus33 will also support staff on the summit of Mount Washington by providing merino wool base layers and other gear, such as balaclavas and glove liners, in addition to donating socks for special events and fundraisers.
“We couldn’t be more proud to partner with Minus33 on our exclusive sock line,” Drew Bush, Mount Washington Observatory Executive Director, said. “Their work is innovative, and, we believe, synonymous with our record of endurance in an extreme environment and scientific excellence. We are so very grateful that they not only help support our endeavors through a third of all sock sales, but also help to keep our team safe from the elements with their excellent gear.”
“A partnership with Mount Washington Observatory gives us some tremendous testing opportunities,” said Minus33 President Lawson Glidden. “Its unique location offers an environment comparable to Antarctica and the polar regions, making it a perfect testing ground for our expedition-weight merino. Known as the Home of the World’s Worst Weather, no other place in the contiguous United States provides such accessible and consistently extreme conditions for testing.”
Minus33’s collaboration socks with Mount Washington Observatory are available for purchase at the summit shop of MWOBS (seasonally) and online at Minus33.com. These limited-edition hiking socks are made in New Hampshire from sustainable, fine Australian merino, offering unmatched comfort and performance.
