Capturing Our Community’s Seek the Peak History

By now you’ve probably heard the fantastic news. This past July’s 25th Anniversary Seek the Peak broke new records, raising more than $300,000 ($50,000 over our goal) with 593 participants enjoying a picture perfect day in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
We couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who took part for helping us to accomplish this unimaginable outcome. Your efforts mean we can work every day to provide insight into extreme weather, communicate this science in a manner that keeps millions of listeners safe, and educate young children to help inspire the next generation to do the same.
Yet one story has not yet been told: each of yours. After 25 years, we believe there are so many incredible personal histories to highlight. Of loved ones who once hiked and can no longer join us. Of generations of families who have made memories together. Of challenges overcome. Of days spent with friends and colleagues hiking in incredible surroundings. Of memories made.
At this year’s Aprés Hike Expo at Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center, a small group of our staff, volunteers, and Trustees worked to record the oral history of our participants. Today we are proud to present a few of these stories from those who attended our quarter century event and shared.
These voices will join a growing archive helping to document the work of our volunteers, friends, members, Trustees, staff, partners, and others. Each of your voices are important to us, and we look forward to sharing future updates from this project as we plan for our 100th year in 2032.
