I gather it was a wonderful day in the valley today – warm and sunny with vivid blue skies. Up here on the other hand it’s been one of those thick wet foggy days with a strong northerly breeze to add to the general discomfort level every time you stepped outside. Hopefully things will improve soon and we may even see some sun tomorrow.

In case you haven’t noticed we (well really Pete, Ken and assorted volunteers) are in the process of moving our weather related equipment at Wildcat. The building that used to house our gadgets and paraphernalia will be coming down soon so we are relocating a few feet across the summit to a new site – as you can imagine it has been a lot of work erecting a mast, moving sensors and rewiring everything back up. The opportunity was also taken to install an anemometer, so we now have wind data from the summit of Wildcat, the scripts have just been updated to send this data to our main Mesonet page (press the + button then select ‘Wind’). Next thing will be to set up the Ravine webcam presets – sounds easy but webcams and I just don’t get along! So please be patient a little while longer while I get my head around all these pan, tilt and zoom options.
