Bill and Michelle getting “ambushed!”
I want to thank everyone who came to the North Conway and SoHo Eastern Mountain Sports stores last night for our partnership celebrations. We got to rub elbows with all the EMS big wigs (who are remarkably down to Earth!) while enjoying an awesome video about our partnership, a live connection with the summit crew and of course, fun giveaways! A special thanks to everyone at EMS for putting together such a great event. I can hardly wait to see all the fun stuff we’re going to get into together over the next three years!
And speaking of fun stuff, how’s this for a completely random, yet completely awesome side effect of the new partnership–Observatory Director of Programs Michelle Cruz and Director of Museum Operations Bill Grenfell traveled to New York City to represent the Obs at the SoHo party, and ended up on national television!
After working last night’s event, Bill and Michelle had today off to sightsee. Being the wonderful Observatory employees that they are, they decided to head over to the Today Show studios this morning to stand in the crowd and see if they could get the Observatory banner on TV…
Well, they got on TV alright, but not exactly how they had planned. While standing on the street with the banner, a Today Show host approached Michelle and told her she had been chosen for an “Ambush Makeover” on the Kathie Lee and Hoda show!
As our distance learning host extraordinaire, Michelle is certainly no stranger to the camera–but this was really taking it up a notch! Before you could say “Mount Washington,” Michelle was whisked backstage, and a team of celebrity stylists started working their magic…
Obs fans, meet your new Director of Programs!
(We’re not sure if her husband, EMS Climbing School guide and Observatory EduTrip leader Dave Lottmann, has heard about all this yet, but we’ll bet he approves!)
Book your distance learning program with the famous Michelle Cruz today! (She’ll make science fun AND stylish–even Bill Nye can’t claim that!)
