The Weather Channel didn’t ignite my obsession with weather (that was Twister, as many of you readers know), but it sure helped it grow. Being able to tune into weather at any time was definitely a novelty of which I took great advantage. The ‘Local on the 8’s’ was convenient and whenever there was a hurricane or severe weather not where I was, it sated my appetite. The Weather Channel was part of my daily routine. In 2006 at the American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting, in Atlanta, I was lucky enough to meet some of the talented meteorologists on the aforementioned channel.
Back then, I had no idea that in only a year and a half later, I would be working somewhere that meteorologists think of as a destination vacation! Since I started at the Observatory, we’ve had at least two visits from The Weather Channel. Most recently, this included a film specialist, a producer, and Jim Cantore (you might remember Brian and Jim chatting it up, live!). The reason for this visit was to showcase Mount Washington’s incredible weather on the series, Cantore Stories.
Our episode premiered last night at 9 pm, and will air again tonight at 9 pm. It came together nicely, to say the least. So, everyone who is reading this and has cable, watch The Weather Channel tonight at 9 pm!
