My second week on the mountain

Tearing Down The Old ASOS Shed

Well, after a week of beautiful weather today sees the return of more typical Mount Washington weather. Last night’s Sunset Soiree was a great success and we were able to catch a glimpse of the sun as it set on the horizon. During the last week or two we’ve finally completed some of the major maintenance projects as we prepare to hunker down for the rapidly approaching winter season. This is my second shift as a fall intern and I’m settling in quite nicely. I’m slowly beginning to adapt to the normal work schedule here. It’s quite a bit different than my schedule in the AMC’s huts where we are “off” during the middle of the day. I’ve been enjoying the nice weather especially when my intern duties require me to work outside. However, I really want the weather conditions to seriously deteriorate, but it looks like I’ll have to be content with occasional sunshine and a nice breeze. It’s a hard life we lead…
