Mount Washington has roughly 4,000 members, 20,000 e-newsletter subscribers and an astounding 1.17 million unique visitors who peruse this website each year.
You are scientists and researchers, hikers, photographers, skiers and White Mountains enthusiasts of all stripes. You vary from young to old, left-brained to right, complete weather wonks to fascinated bystanders. Hailing from all fifty states and many countries, you and I–and everyone reading this blog–are a truly diverse lot, united by our passion for weather, the Observatory and Mount Washington.
I invite all of you to join me and fellow members, fans, family and friends on Saturday, June 4 for a celebration of OUR Mount Washington Observatory. The 2011 Mount Washington Observatory Annual Gathering will be held at the beautiful White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, New Hampshire, offering the opportunity to meet fellow Mount Washington enthusiasts and get an inside look at the Observatory today while enjoying great food and spectacular views.
The evening gathering will be complemented by a variety of free activities throughout the weekend to help you reconnect with the Observatory and Mount Washington, and I encourage you to make a weekend of it with discounted lodging at the White Mountain Hotel.
Tickets to the 2011 Annual Gathering are on sale through May 23 online and by phone at (603) 356-2137, x230. And of course, the 2011 Annual Members’ Meeting before the gathering is free and open to all. More information is available on the Annual Gathering website.
I hope you can join us!
