New Stove
Our new stove, resplendent in its protective wrapping, is here and waiting to be installed – if everything goes to plan it will be hooked up early next week. The old stove, which has certainly seen better days, still works well but is now showing its age – the door has to be held shut with a piece of wire and the temperature will either run hot or cold but never quite at the requested setting. Although it will be sad to see the old work horse leave we are all looking forward to breaking in the new stove soon.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to mention that the Auto Road will be officially closing this coming Monday but for the last few days has not been operating to the summit due to the snow and ice conditions. Please check in with them for the latest information and ever changing road conditions. The Cog Railway is planning to run a full service this weekend and then just two trains daily, weather permitting, until late November. And finally the Sherman Adams building will also be officially closing this Sunday although limited services will be available for Cog passengers until early November.
As was mentioned in a comment last week anyone hiking to the summit must be prepared and capable of hiking back down as well. There will no longer be any options to take transportation down the mountain and there are no lodging facilities here at the summit. Please hike safely.
